Meet the Author

Dr Charles Vandepeer is a senior academic in intelligence and national security (Charles Sturt University, Australia). Charles’ career has included service in the Royal Australian Air Force as an intelligence officer (Squadron Leader), gaining operational experience on deployments to the Middle East. Prior to joining the Air Force, he served in the Australian Army Reserve. Charles has also worked as a civilian Defence Operations Research scientist and was an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Oklahoma’s Center for Intelligence and National Security (2017-2024). He has spoken and published on intelligence analysis, military history, operations research, question-asking, critical thinking and decision-making.
